THE NAGELEHOF IN MERANO

Authentic by nature

The moment the farm gates open on Hagengasse and Martin greets you with a lighthearted smile, you’ll sense it right away: this house is full of stories. Since the Nagelehof in Merano became a holiday destination in 1962, it has kept pace with the times while always preserving its heart and rustic charm. Three generations of hosts have personally made sure of that – today, Martin invites you to enjoy a modern yet wonderfully genuine farm holiday at one of the greenest and most relaxing and slow-paced spots in the city.

SPECIAL LOCATION

Ultimate calm

Leave the hustle of the big city, the roads and everyday life far behind – at the Nagelehof, you can give yourself over entirely to peace and quiet. Our holiday apartments in Merano are set among apple orchards, almost secluded yet close to the centre. To the right, your gaze sweeps over the Val Venosta valley, straight ahead, it stretches far into the Val d’Adige valley, and in the distance, the mountains wave hello. From morning till night, only the gentle sound of trickling water, a neighbour’s tractor, or the evening croak of frogs might break the silence.

IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

Up close with farm life

The Nagelehof is a holiday destination, but it is and always will be a working farm, where Martin goes about his daily tasks. He lovingly tends three hectares of apple orchards and doesn’t mind showing guests what he’s up to while driving the tractor, pruning trees or picking fruit. After all, visitors should get to experience real farm life, including the seasonal work and, of course, the lively farm guardian Chabo.

WARM WELCOME

Martin –
a true original

When people here speak of an “original,” they mean someone like Martin: genuine, relaxed and humorous. He’s not only a trained carpenter but also a host through and through. When guests call, farm work can wait. “I’m happy to be interrupted,” he says of himself, meaning he never misses a chance for a chat. He especially enjoys guiding guests through the old farm cellar, sharing his wine knowledge and telling old stories and anecdotes.

FAMILY HISTORY

Rooted in tradition

Since 1962, the Nagelehof has welcomed holiday guests. Back then, Martin’s grandparents were the hosts, managing the apartments until the 1990s. Martin, who grew up on the Nagelehof, initially took over the farm at the age of 29, gradually renovating parts while preserving much of its character. The latest major renovations began in 2024, with the reopening of the new yet traditionally cozy apartments planned for autumn 2025.
