CLOSE TO THE CENTRE

Merano awaits

A holiday in Merano is perfect for relaxing, but also for exploring. The heart of the town is within walking distance, and three bus stops just 500 meters away make it easy to reach the center or nearby surroundings.
While you soak in nearly 30 pools at the thermal baths, enjoy an aperitivo by the rushing Passer River, shop in the Merano Arcades or stroll along the famous Tappeiner Promenade, you’ll also discover plenty to see in the other districts of the city – above all the Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, located just a short distance from Nagelehof.

ALWAYS ACTIVE

On the move

Whether bike paths or hiking trails, lakes or slopes, Merano and its surroundings offer plenty of options for staying active. The family-friendly Merano 2000 hiking and skiing area is easily accessible by car, bus or cable car. Whether you feel like cycling, hiking, climbing, swimming, paragliding or rafting, in the Val Senales, Val Passiria, Val d’Ultimo and Val Venosta valleys or in the South Tyrolean Unterland, the choice is yours. Long car rides are never a concern.
Martin’s insider tip: Motorcycle enthusiasts will find a stop at the Nagelehof worthwhile – (not only) South Tyrol’s mountain passes are a biker’s paradise!

FAMILY HIGHLIGHTS

Fun for all ages

A holiday in Merano also promises big fun for little guests. The Nagelehof features its own fenced-in children’s playground right in the green surroundings. Other family highlights include the Merano Thermal Baths, the “Outdoor Kids Camp” play area in the Merano 2000 hiking area, the flat Waalweg paths with their water channels and rest stops, the miniature railway world in Rablà, playgrounds and adventure trails around Merano and much more. Host Martin, a father of two, is happy to share his tips!

THE HEART OF THE ACTION

Year-round events

Merano proves that size isn’t everything when it comes to events. The charming town offers a wide range of top-quality events throughout the year. Starting with the Merano Flower Festival in spring, the summer brings the Asfaltart street artists festival, open-air theater, garden concerts at Trauttmansdorff Castle, wine and gourmet events, followed by horse races, the internationally renowned Merano Music Weeks, the traditional Grape Festival and the famous WineFestival. In winter, the spotlight is on the Christmas markets of South Tyrolean towns and villages. There’s always something happening!

BAD WEATHER PROGRAM

When it rains

A holiday in Merano usually means plenty of sunny days and mild climate. But if it does rain, there’s no need to worry – boredom won’t stand a chance! Enjoy sauna sessions at the Merano Thermal Baths, visit the Naturno Adventure Thermal Spa, try out wine tastings at local wineries, museum tours – for example in the Museum of Archaeology with Ötzi Glacier Mummy in Bolzano – castle tours, or excursions to nearby towns. The options are diverse and easy to organise from the Nagelehof.

YEAR-END AND NEW BEGINNINGS

Sparkling winter days

It’s not just the warm days that make Merano magical. When the first snowflakes fall in the mountains and the year draws to a close, the streets and alleys may be quieter, but the Christmas markets and South Tyrolean slopes come alive. The Merano 2000 ski area is just a short ride away and delights not only skiers and snowboarders, but also sledders, winter hikers, nature lovers and especially families. In the evenings, when the city lights up, you can end the day during the festive season with a mulled wine, some gift shopping or an ice dance on Piazza Terme.
